Don't get caught sleeping

We had a long ride to New York City. The scholars had a long night session, so on the bus I did what I do every year. Caught them sleeping.

1.  They act like I'm different making sure to explai
My existence and purpose when saying my name.
Over time I have changed my roles been expanded,
Abnormal no more, our people have landed.
What am I?


2. I'm large and in charge with a style all my own,
I chose words as my tool when I became grown.
Serving and helping, acting like I'm not special.
After all it's just me, helping others to be all they can be.
Who am I?

3.  My hair is regal, my girls hair is short.
I walk with authority-no one scares me.
Powerful and mighty, yet loving and kind.
When my family gets together we're filled with pride.
What am I?

Night Session

We had the pleasure of another speaker. Dr. Tabatha McKenny. She is the sister of Nicholas Bellamy, one our chaperones. She is also a former of the Willie B. Adkins program when it was named the Tanner Project. She currently works for the Dept. of Education in the area of Assessment Metrics. 

After the scholars worked on the assignments. 

Black Wax Museum

After again a great breakfast we went to the Black in Wax Museum in Baltamore Maryland. This experience is emotional no matter how many times you visit this museum. The scholars go in voicestrous and leave quiet. Some look angry and some with tears. The pictures are just a snapshot of the experience.
